Points System

At Amberley Ridge School the children are given a score for their behaviour and achievement. The marking criteria will be the same for both behaviour and work. Pupils will be marked on a five point scale as follows:

5 This is awarded for something exceptional for behaviour and work of a very high standard
Examples may include helping a child or a member of staff who is having difficulties, doing extra work without being asked, not retaliating despite provocation, for extraordinary effort or for producing an outstanding piece of work. Five is awarded for very good/excellent behaviour, effort and/or achievement.

4 This is for good behaviour, effort and/or work for behaviour and work that is of a high standard
This child will have worked very hard for the whole period and will have behaved very well. This score represents above average behaviour, effort and/or achievement.

3 This is awarded for acceptable behaviour, effort and work
A child may have had a slight problem but has accepted correction and made things right. Three is for good enough or satisfactory behaviour, effort and work that we would expect as the norm.

2 This is awarded for behaviour, effort and work that does not measure up to an acceptable standard
A child may have been rude or disruptive, for example slow to start work, answering back or may simply not have produced enough work of an acceptable standard

1 This is awarded for very poor behaviour, effort and work
The child may have been very disruptive, refused to leave the class when asked, aggressive, used foul language or may have produced little or no work of an acceptable standard

0 If children place themselves in a dangerous situation, commit a violent act or have to be restrained (due to them being a danger to themselves, others or serious risk to property) they will not receive a score. Other measures must be taken such as a letter home or exclusion.

Behaviour during the school day will count towards rewards at the end of week.
